MISSION STATEMENT of STUDENT LIFE :
The mission of the Division of Student Affairs at Philander Smith College is to prepare generations of life-long learners through academic support, spiritual development, and cultural enrichment to engage in professional leadership and service.
To increase retention and graduation rates through promoting and helping students actively participate in tangible co-curricular endeavors.
Through the various departments, Philander Smith College offers the following services:
Academic advising if you are undecided about your major
Career planning and placement services
School nurse for preventative and immediate health care (school physician is off-site)
Weekly Chapel services
How can I get involved on campus?
While you come to college for your academic studies, research shows that students who are actively involved in co-curricular activities have better grades and higher graduation rates. Thus, we strongly encourage our students to get involved in various organizations, events/activities, and services offered. A few of these opportunities are listed below:
