 Help Our Students Attend Schoolmate's Funeral Services 

As some of you may know through various prayer request channels, one of our own was tragically killed last weekend. Philander Smith College, senior Ivory Avant Warmack, 22, was involved in a fatal head-on collision, Sept. 25, 2010, when a drunk motorist drove the wrong way on a downtown Little Rock, one-way street. Warmack was the passenger in a car driven by his classmate, Cori McReynolds. McReynolds and the driver of the other vehicle survived the accident.

Funeral services will be held in Warmack’s hometown near Chicago this Saturday. A basketball player and member of the Philander Smith College National Championship Budgetball team, several of Warmack’s teammates and school friends want to be there to honor his memory.

We’re asking alumni around the country to assist in defraying the costs and expenses associated with transporting and housing the 51 students, and four staff members who will be traveling on a chartered bus to Chicago. They will attend the services celebrating the life of this Phildanderian who was expected to graduate this spring.

                Warmack was known for his calm demeanor and openness to everyone he met. Philander Smith College will be dedicating the Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 Chapel service to Warmack. He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends. Please keep the Warmack and McRenyolds family in your thoughts and prayers.
