Natural and Physical Sciences Workshop
The faculty of the Division of Natural and Physical Sciences of Philander Smith College will host a workshop entitled "Introduction to Computational Thinking." The Shodor Foundation is sponsoring the event Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 in the Distance Learning Center in the D.W.Reynolds library on PSC's campus from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 
The workshop is geared toward computer science, mathematics, and natural science educators, and aims to incorporate new techniques, teaching materials, and applications in undergraduate curriculums.

Rapper Common Come to Campus

 

Philander Smith College welcomes noted recording artist and actor Common to its Bless the Mic lecture series’ student centered-speaker version called “Chopped and Screwed.”     

Born with the name Lonnie Rashied Lynn, Jr., this Hip Hop artist will bless the mic Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in the M.L. Harris Auditorium.

Lynn chose the stage name Common Sense reports show to describe his everyday approach to reaching audiences and Hip Hop fans using a rap style that appeals to all generations. This former student of a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) attended Florida A&M University as a business major. He has performed in films such as Brown Sugar, Smokin’ Aces, American Gangster, Wanted, and Just Wright.

His appearance on campus is free and open to the public. No tickets or reservations are necessary.
