UNCF MISSION AND PURPOSE

  • Enhance the quality of education by raising operating funds
  • Provide financial assistance to deserving students

UNCF HISTORY

  • Nation's largest and most effective minority higher education assistance organization
  • Founded in 1944 by Dr. Frederick D. Patterson of Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) along with Dr. Mary McCloud Bethune and 27 other college presidents

UNCF SLOGAN

  • Created in 1972 by Forest Long as a reminder and call to action
