Please join us Tuesday, November 19 at 11:30 a.m. in the Nugent Room of the Harry R. Kendall Science and Health Mission Center as we honor Sherece West-Scantlebury, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, for the annual President's Luncheon at Philander Smith College.
It is our privilege to honor Dr. West-Scantlebury for her dedication to leveraging philanthropy to break down barriers created by lack of access. Involved in philanthropy for nearly 20 years, Dr. West-Scantlebury served as CEO at the Foundation for Louisiana and as a program associate at the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Her professional career includes nearly 25 years of experience in community development, public policy and advocacy, and public service.
Dr. West-Scantlebury came to the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation in 2007. The private, independent foundation's mission is to improve the lives of all Arkansans in three interrelated areas: economic development; education; and economic, racial and social justice. Its work and Philander Smith College's mission to "graduate academically accomplished students, grounded as advocates for social justice, determined to change the world for the better" make them ideal partners in efforts to eliminate poverty in Arkansas specifically through education and social justice initiatives.
The President's Luncheon is the college's primary fundraiser to benefit our membership in the UNCF. Your support as a sponsor would help us to continue educating students seeking the transformative power that higher education affords.
