What do you do when you have planned your lecture series, but you have a great event fall in your lap? How can you show old lectures on campus for students that missed the actual event? You create "Chopped and Screwed." This Bless the Mic brand allows us to bring in speakers as events happen, and do so in a less formal format.

David Banner with Street Team

The inaugural event was with hip-hop star David Banner, who spoke on campus weeks after he testified before the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce on a panel entitled, "From Imus to Industry: The Business of Stereotypes and Degrading Images." He was followed that spring by author Felicia Pride with her book "The Message" which provide meaning for many of the classic hip-hop cuts.
