Bless the Mic Series Opens Successfully The fifth annual Bless the Mic series opened, Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 with a record crowd of more than 800 audience members filling the M.L. Harris Auditorium and the Wesley Chapel to hear noted author and sociologist, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. Dyson was the first speaker to grace the mic when the series opened in 2005. Thanks to you, this season opener was a huge success. We look forward to you coming out for more lectures as the season continues through March 2011. Our next featured speaker will be NeNe Leakes of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta", who is scheduled to appear, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Save the date.

Fall Enrollment Up, More Students Stay at PSC Fall enrollment figures show that more than 700 students enrolled in full and part-time classes this school year, which shows a 3 percent increase over last year's figures. Philander Smith College also had 77 percent of last year's freshman continue their educational pursuits as second-year students here.This factor ranks the school eighth in freshmen retentaion rates among the 105 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) throughout the country.
