Campaigning Politicians Come to Campus

The Beta Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha and Miss Philander Smith College Felecia White are hosting a political forum in the Kendall Building on the campus of Philander Smith College at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 14, 2010.

The forum will allow the community to meet candidates running for national, state and local offices. Audience members will be able to ask the candidates questions about issues such as the Arkansas Lottery Scholarship Fund, increasing minority involvement in the workforce, and making health care more affordable and accessible in Arkansas.

State Sen. Joyce Elliot, Carolyn Ann Smith, John Walker, state Rep. Darrin Williams and representatives from the offices of Gov. Mike Beebe, Tim Griffin, and U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln will be attending. Incumbents and candidates running for city of Little Rock Mayoral and Board of Directors positions have also been invited to participate.

Dr. Daniel Egbe, a Philander Smith College Political Science professor will moderate the event which is free open to the public.
